When viewing distant ob- jects, the lens is made relatively thin and flat; for near vision, the lens becomes thicker and rounder and has more refrac- tive power. 2. Term used by Piaget (along with assimilation) to describe how children might react to a new person, event, or object by modifying their scheme of thought.
