In C (a minor) v Eisenhower  QB 331 it was held that the rupture of blood vessels internally is not sufficient to constitute a wound. There must be a break in the continuity of both layers of the skin. Both the dermis and epidermis must be broken. It is important to realise that if there is proof of a wounding, the actual injury need not be severe; any breaking of the skin will suffice.
