In R v Kennedy  UKHL 38, the House of Lords stated that the OAPA 1861, s 23 (and, presumably, the OAPA 1861, s 24) creates three distinct offences: (a) administering to; (b) causing to be administered to; and (c) causing to be taken by any other person any poison or other destructive or noxious thing.
