GI drug: H2 blockers i.e. Ranitidine
mechanism: reversibly competes w/ histamine at the H2 receptor sites in the parietal cells of stomach to inhibit acid secretion
possible clinical scenarios: gastritis, GERD, duodenal/gastric ulcers, hypersecretion of acid
caution:
-inhibit CYP450
-interacts w/ warfarin, phenytoin(anti-seizure) & diazepam (msc relaxant to relieve anxiety)
