GI drug: PPIs i.e. pantoprazole, omeprazole, lansoprazole, esomeprazole, rabeprazole, dexlansoprazole
mechanism: inhibits parietal cell H+/K+ ATP pump, suppressing gastric acid secretion
possible clinical scenarios: GERD, PU, erosive esophagitis, GI protection when used w/ NSAID
caution: increased risk of C diff inf and osteoporosis-related fractures w/ long-term use
