Contingency, the necessity of the “as if” which guards all everyday experiences of reality, begin to blur into a kind of Stoically or Spinozistically immanentized repetition of earlier tales of revelatory encounter, an encounter with radically exterior sovereignty which functions as a touchstone all the more dramatically for its having become immanent, as if democratized or universalized in the experience of the everyday.
