What we have learned from the above comparison is how poor PNTs are as a conductor through “conventional” band gap tunneling and how important the β is in determining the conductivity of the systems. The larger β obtained in the PNTs results from the PNTs being formed by the means of hydrogen bonding, which has smaller orbital overlap compared with covalent bonding
