How is the Feudal RL setup different to the options framework?
Answer
Within the options framework a higher-level option's policy may choose from a number of available lower-level options, each of which serve a different role. In Feudal RL the converse case is studied, in which there is only one possible sub-manager active at any level, and so the only choice a manager has is over the tasks it sets. So instead of several options specialised to different tasks, there is one sub-manager that can perform a range of different tasks as chosen by the manager.
