Instead of syslogd , certain versions of the Novell/SUSE distributions, in par- ticular the SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, use the Syslog-NG package in- stead of syslogd . This is configured in a substantially different manner. For the LPIC-1 exam, you need to know that Syslog-NG exists and roughly what it does; see section 1.6.
