It is not claimed, therefore, that there is no philosophical problem of the relation of physical science to the things of ordinary experience. It is asserted that the problem in the -form in which it has chiefly occupied modern philosophy is an artifi- cial one, due to the continued assumption of premises formed in an earlier period of history and now having no relevancy to the state of physical inquiry.
