General Form for Amplitude Modulation

The general form of amplitude modulation of a signal \(s(t)\) is:

\(\displaystyle s_{HF}(t) = (A + \gamma s(t)) \cos(\omega_{c}t)\)

where \(A\) is the DC offset, \(\gamma\) is the AM sensitivity factor and \(\omega_{c}\) is the carrier angular frequency.
